Marie Hunter is a physiotherapist who has been treating clients in Geneva for the last 10 years.  She operates in close coordination with her clients’ doctors and other complementary therapists, nutritionists and physical trainers to achieve meaningful and lasting results.  She sees the body as a holistic system, and works in partnership with her clients to help them regain a pain-free and active life.  Marie speaks French, English and German.

 

Marie earned her high school qualifications in Bremen and worked thereafter as part of a voluntary social year in neurological rehabilitation center for children and young people in Friedehorst, and an internship in the local physiotherapy department, for 1.5 years.  Subsequently, she completed her degree at the School of Physiotherapy of Ernst August University of Göttingen (Germany) in 2004.

 

From August 2004 to May 2014 she worked as a physiotherapist in Geneva helping clients to restore their movement and function after injury, illness or disability.  At the core of her work is the client’s involvement in their own care, through education, awareness, empowerment and participation in their treatment.   Marie used her knowledge (and her hands!) to improve a range of conditions associated with different systems of the body, such as: musculoskeletal (sports injuries, arthritis, fractures, breaks, back pain, post-accident rehabilitation), Cardiovascular and Respiratory conditions, amongst others.

 

During this time she has continued her professional development and acquired additional qualifications in:

- Therapy of Temporo Mandibula Disorder

- Triggerpoint therapy

- Visceral therapy

- Cranio-Sacral Therapy

- Manual osteopathic therapy for children and infants

- Reiki 1st and 2nd degree

 

Following the birth of her daughter in January 2014 Marie decided to set up her own physiotherapy practice to be able to continue to develop her philosophy of holistic physiotherapy with an emphasis on manual therapy and osteopathic concept. 

 

Marie leads an active life herself and enjoys Yoga, Tai Chi, Skiing and Running.

Elle travaille en étroite coordination avec les médecins de ses clients et d’autres thérapeutes complémentaires, des nutritionnistes et des entraineurs physiques, pour atteindre des résultats significatifs et durables. Pour Marie, le corps est un ensemble cohérent , elle travaille en partenariat avec ses clients pour les aider à retrouver une vie active et sans douleurs.

 

Marie a obtenu son baccalaurèat à Brême, Allemagne, et a travaillé par la suite dans le cadre d’une année sociale de bénévolat dans un centre de réhabilitation pour les enfants et les jeunes à Friedehorst, Allemagne pendant 18 mois. Elle a aussi effectuée un stage dans le département locale de physiothérapie. Ultérieurement, elle a obtenu son diplôme à l’École de Physiothérapie de l’Université Ernst August de Göttingen, Allemagne, en 2004.

 

Du mois d’Août 2004 jusqu’en Mai 2014, elle a travaillé en tant que physiothérapeute à Genève en aidant ses clients à rétablir leur motricité et fonction lors d’une lésion, une maladie ou un handicap. Son travail se concentre sur l’implication du client dans ses propres soins par l’éducation, la sensibilisation, la responsabilisation et la participation à son traitement. Marie utilise ses connaissances (et ses mains!) pour améliorer un éventail de conditions associées aux différents systèmes du corps, tels que le système  musculosquelettique  (lésions sportives,  arthrite, fractures, mal de dos, réhabilitation post-accident), les conditions cardiovasculaires et respiratoires, entre autres.

 

Pendant cette période, elle a poursuivi son développement professionnel et a obtenu des qualifications supplémentaires dans :

·       La thérapie de la mâchoire

·       La thérapie viscérale

·       La thérapie craniosacrale

·       Le traitement ostéopathique manuel pour les enfants et les nourrissons

Après la naissance de sa fille en Janvier 2014, Marie a décidé de créer son propre cabinet pour continuer le développement de sa philosophie en physiothérapie qui met l’accent sur la thérapie manuelle et le concept ostéopathique.

 

Marie mène une vie active et pratique le Yoga, le Tai-Chi, le Ski et la Course à pied.

Sie sucht aktiv den Kontakt zu Ärzten, Personal Trainern, Gyms, Ernährungsberatern und anderen Therapeuten, um das bestmöglichste Ergebnis für ihre Patienten zu erlangen. 

 

Für Marie ist der Körper ein "Ganzes" (holistisches Konzept), der nur in Zusammenarbeit (Therapeut - Patient - ...) behandelt und somit ins Gleichgewicht gebracht werden kann.

 

Marie spricht deutsch, französisch und englisch.

 

Marie machte ihr Abitur in Bremen, Deutschland und im Rahmen eines sozialen Jahres (ca. 18 Monate) im Neurologischen Rehabilitationszentrum für Kinder und Jugendliche Friedehorst mit anschliessendem Praktikum in der dortigen physiotherapeutischen Abteilung, entschloß sie sich Physiotherapie zu studieren.

Ihr Diplom erhielt sie an der Schule für Physiotherapie der Ernst August Universität Göttingen (Deutschland) in 2004. 

 

Von August 2004 bis Mai 2014 arbeitete sie als Physiotherapeutin in Genf, wobei sie ihren Patienten nach Unfällen, Krankheit, Schmerz und Bewegungseinschränkung half, wieder auf die Beine zu kommen und zu genesen.

 

Hierbei ist es Marie wichtig dem Patienten die Eigenverantwortung nicht abzunehmen, sondern sie zu fördern, mit Hilfe von Schulung der Körperwahrnehmung, Wissensvermittlung und Anteilnahme an der jeweiligen Situation.

 

Marie nuzt ihr Wissen (und ihre Hände) um unterschiedlichste Problematiken des Bewegungsapparates und Körpers zu erkennen und zu behandeln, wie z.B. Sportunfälle, Arthrose, Frakturen, Rückenschmerzen, Post-OP Schmerzen, Organbeschwerden, Kopfschmerzen - Migräne, etc.

Durch die Geburt ihrer Tochter im Januar 2014 hat sich Marie entschlossen, sich selbstständig zu machen und in ihrer eigenen Praxis zu arbeiten, um ihr Verständnis von einem holistischen Systems des Körpers weiter auszubauen und zu verfolgen mit dem Schwerpunkt auf Manueller Therapie im osteopathischen Konzept.
